The Artist
Two letters,
a lifetime of looking.
Every canvas in this collection is signed with two quiet initials: DH. Behind them is a painter who has spent a lifetime looking. At the sea giving back the last of the sun. At snow settling over fir boughs. At the way window light falls across flowers cut that same morning.
She paints in oil, and she paints thickly. Petals are built from loaded brushfuls of colour; snow stands up from the canvas in sculptural ridges; a rooster's comb is laid on wet and red and unapologetic. Step close and the subject dissolves into pure, physical paint. Step back and the world reassembles, warmer than before.
Her subjects are humble on purpose: a goose, a path through the dunes, apples on a lace runner. Each work is presented here the way museums present their treasures: alone, in its own light, with its own story.
This site is her permanent exhibition. The doors never close.
